Sorry everyone, the time kind of got away from me. I was very busy working on etsy orders, Christmas gifts, and cooking and baking for my family this month. Can you believe 2013 is almost over? I can't. I don't normally make New Years resolutions but this year I think I'll set some goals for myself. One being blog more.

I'm always trying a new recipe, or making something new and I should share those with you. So in 2014, I hope to bring you new recipes to try, new nail art to love, and lots of new DIY/crafts anyone can do.

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season, no matter what you celebrate this time of year. May 2014 bring you wonderful things!

New Fabric

I went to the fabric store this morning to get some more Marvel comic fabric and I found this amazing new print today! I've never seen it before. I think I actually like it more than the other print. I love that its a bit darker and the mix of the color and sepia tones. Love love love!

I came straight home and turned it into scarves, photographed them, and added them to the shop.

I think I have to keep one for myself. What do you think? Which one of my geek print scarves is your favorite?

A few days ago a friend posted this picture on facebook
(I don't know the source, if you know it let me know)

So I wanted to make her son a birthday gift and came up with this little guy.

I love how it turned out! My husband even said he's wear one.

A few hours ago there was a loud boom and the power went out. So since I couldn't use my sewing machine or the computer I decided to paint my nails a different Halloween theme. Ghosts!

First I painted all my nails white.

Then I took the thin black and wrote BOO.

I made a big ghost face on my thumb nail. This part is easy because it doesn't have to be perfectly even.

You could do the same on your pinky nail but I wanted a different ghost. So I took the black again and made the ghost shape. Then I filled in the white space on the outside of the ghost shape. Add two dots for eyes and one for the mouth and you're done!

Halloween Nail Art

I decided to take a break from working on shop stuff yesterday to paint my nails. My mom got me that fun black rose bottle of nail polish. Isn't it fun?

I always love to have an accent nail. I painted all but one nail on each hand in orange and my accent nail in black. Then I added this fun chunky orange glitter over the black.

Then I had to paint a happy little jack o' lantern on my thumbs.

Shop Updates

How is your week going so far? Mine has not gone according to plan. My cat has been sick off and on for a month and my husband and I spent the better part of a day at the vet yesterday. All his blood work ($295 worth! YIKES!) came back normal so they gave him an injection and he's been fine since. We are thankful for that. So since our morning and afternoon didn't go so well we spent the rest of the day out window shopping.

This morning I went to the fabric store and stocked up on Marvel, Batman, and Star Wars fabric for scarves as well as some new plaid flannel for cozy soft infinity scarves. I've made several today and wanted to give you a sneak peek. These will be in the shop when it re-opens on Sunday, October 6th. Make sure you check them out.

I've also been working on lots and lots of new crochet items and hair clips. I'll give you a peek at those tomorrow.

Halloween Jello Shot Eyes

NOTE: You probably found your way here from pinterest. Want the recipe? Check out the newer blog post  HERE !!

Last year my brother and sister-in-law had a Monster Mash themed Halloween party. They go all out for Halloween and it is so much fun! We covered their living room in dark plastic table clothes from the dollar store so it looked like a cave. Hung spider webs and bats and used glow in the dark paint. She also made some awesome felt monsters to sit on the couch.
It was amazing! So of course we had to make fun jello shots and I found the recipe for these through a link on pinterest here
I ordered the ice cube trays on Amazon for pretty cheap. These were pretty easy to make. We painted on the details with gel food coloring I already had at home. Gel food coloring can be found in the cake decorating section of most craft stores. These jello shots taste like coconut and we used Malibu rum. They were pretty tasty and creepy when they pop in your mouth. These are great if you want a fun and completely gross Halloween treat for your 21 and over party.

Shop Updates

Yesterday I sat down and wrote out all the new things I want to make or need to do or add to my shop. I'll be shutting it down Sept. 30th - Oct. 5th so I can have some time with no orders to work on lots of cute new crochet holiday/seasonal items and stock up and current items like scarves. My husband and I plan to make a day of it and go to every fabric store within 100 miles and buy up all the comic print fabric I can find. I want to make sure everyone who wants to order a scarf for Christmas can get one. I also plan to have as many things as I can get done so they are ready to ship. I will also be adding more shipping options, like priority mail and gift wrap options.

I'm in love with these holiday beanies I've been working on the last 2 days. I also made a few ear warmers that I don't have a great photo of. So stick with me, the shop will be back up and better than ever!

Terrible Blogger

I was so excited to start this blog. I bought my lovely layout on etsy and said when I quit my job I was going to have so much more time to post and it would be great. I quit that job in May, it is now September. I have four posts. Five, if you include this one.

So I'm going to try harder. I've been sitting on my bed in my bathrobe for hours watching netflix and making notes about things to post or things I like about the blogs I read. I hope to do a better job starting this week! Fingers crossed ha.

Bows, bows, and more bows

I have spent the last two mornings working on lots of new bows to add to my shop. I say mornings because I've set an alarm for myself so I can get my work done before my craft room gets unbearably hot.

So here are some of the bows I've been working on. These are my favorite!
I love anything with a super hero on it. So make sure you check out my etsy shop this afternoon for lots of new listings.
