Where have I been?

Life has taken a lot of twist and turns since I last posted here. Not that I was ever much of a blogger. My etsy shop is closed. I loved my time making things for all of my wonderful customers. I actually miss it. I love creating. We moved to a new state. We're living in Oregon now. A lot of personal family things happened too. Then in May of 2017 I started a new business with Agnes & Dora. If you haven't heard of it, Agnes & Dora is a direct marketing business. I sell beautiful women's clothing and its been so much fun. It hasn't been easy but its been worth all the work. I get to stay home and work for myself which I love doing. After being able to work from home with my etsy business it was hard to go back to working for someone else.

I wanted to tell you about my new business and a little bit about where I've been. I hope to make posting here a regular thing but I've said that before and haven't done it. So we'll see how it goes. If you'd like to check out more about my new business please check out these links!

Hello October

I don't know about you, but I LOVE the Fall. I know technically it begins in September but in California we don't usually get any Fall like weather until at least October. A new season makes me crave change so I spent the last week cleaning and throwing things away and gathering things to donate. I still have a ways to go, my craft room is scary lol. One change is happening with my shop and hopefully this blog. I'd like to actually use it and the shop is currently only carrying ready to ship items.

Bandana Bibs

I had never heard of a bandana bib. I don't have kids of my own yet and most of my friends children are out of the bib wearing stage I think ha. So when I got a message from one of my best customers asking if I could make her one I had to look it up. Have you seen them before? They're super cute! They're great for teething drooling babies and they look like little scarves which I love. I will definitely be making some for my kids if I get to have some.

I'm in love with that whale print. LOVE. They're made with 100% cotton printed fabrics and backed with super soft flannel in a coordinating color. They were requested with velcro closures but can be made with clips instead. They're listed in the shop right now at www.handmadereverie.com

Goodbye 2104

I've been writing this post in my head for the last few days and finally this morning sat down to write it. 2014 has been an amazing year for Handmade Reverie. This year I was able to stay home full time and work on crafty things for a living. That is a dream for a creative person. I'm beyond thankful and I know how very lucky I am. This year Handmade Reverie shipped all over the world! All over the US and to Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, Belgium, Austria, Norway, Mexico, Singapore, Sweden, Greece, Chile, Israel, and Azerbaijan! Amazing. Thank you to everyone that placed an order, liked my on facebook, followed on instagram or repinned something I posted on pinterest. Thank you. Without you Handmade Reverie wouldn't work.

Personally in 2014 a lot happened. My husband graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts in 3D Animation and Visual Effects with an emphasis in 3D modeling. Woo that's a mouth full. He also finished his time in the Army Reserves and has since grown a kick ass beard, which he's pretty proud of ha! I started working out with my cousin on a more regular basis and saw a number on the scale I hadn't seen in a while. I didn't do as well as I'd planned but something is better than nothing. I hope to continue that in 2015 and do a better job of sticking to it.

Tomorrow I'll tell you about my goals for 2015. I don't make resolutions. I pretty much never stick to them. Goals I feel work better for me. Have a happy and safe New Year celebration!

Jello Shot Re-Do

Last year I found a super fun recipe on pinterest for jello shot eyes. At the time I didn't really get any pictures of the process of making them, so I knew I had to remake them this year.

They are actually really tasty and so much fun. Watching everyone freak out a little when they ate them was pretty funny too.

I found the molds for these on Amazon for a good price. These are similar.

Malibu Rum and Coconut Jello Shots
amazing recipe by www.myscienceproject.org

Here is what you'll need:
2 packets Knox unflavored gelatin
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, canned
1 cup Malibu Rum
½ cup white sugar
cooking spray
spherical ice molds

(sugar not pictured)

Add coconut milk to a medium sauce pan, sprinkle gelatin in and let sit for a minute. On low heat, stir until gelatin dissolves. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Add Malibu Rum.
Using a measuring cup I poured the mixture into the molds, sprayed with cooking spray, until about halfway full. Maybe a little more. Then place the top portion of the mold in. Doing it this way fills in the top portion of the mold as well. If it isn't full, remove the top and pour a little bit more in.

Put in the fridge and wait. Once the jello is solid remove from molds. There will probably be some little bits around each eye that needs to be removed.
Using gel food coloring and a small clean paint brush, paint on the details. This part doesn't need to be perfect. The ones we made mistakes on last year were just zombie eyeballs ;-)
Allow the food coloring to dry a bit, unless you'd like your mouth to turn black. Learned that one the hard way. Oops.
ENJOY!
